Could a simple catheter at home reduce C-Sections?

NCT ID NCT05759988

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated Apr 29, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using a Foley catheter to prepare the cervix for labor can be done safely at home instead of in the hospital for first-time mothers. About 2,300 women will be randomly assigned to either outpatient or inpatient care. The goal is to see if the outpatient approach lowers the chance of needing a C-section and reduces health risks for both mother and baby.
