Snap and check: study tests photos for ostomy skin care

NCT ID NCT06614491

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 17 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking a photo of the skin around a stoma (an opening on the belly for waste) is as good as an in-person check by a nurse. About 600 adults with an ileostomy, colostomy, or urostomy took part. The goal was to see if photos can help doctors assess skin health remotely, which could make follow-up care easier for patients.
