Quick quiz could spot brittle bones without costly scans
NCT ID NCT07402772
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study will check whether two easy-to-use questionnaires (OST and ORAI) can accurately predict osteoporosis in 1,500 postmenopausal Turkish women aged 50-75. Researchers will compare the questionnaire results with the gold-standard DEXA bone density scan. If the tools work well, they could offer a low-cost first step in screening for osteoporosis.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, these simple questionnaires could help identify women at high risk for osteoporosis without needing an expensive DEXA scan first, making screening more accessible.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. The tools may not be accurate enough to replace DEXA, and results may only apply to Turkish postmenopausal women.
