Osteopathy may ease postpartum pain and stress, new study suggests

NCT ID NCT07631949

First seen Jun 09, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This study tests whether osteopathic treatment (gentle hands-on therapy) can reduce pain, improve daily function, and lower stress hormones in women with ongoing back or pelvic pain after childbirth. About 45 women who gave birth 6 to 15 months ago will be randomly assigned to receive either standard care (education and exercises) alone, or standard care plus real or sham osteopathy. The goal is to see if adding osteopathy provides extra relief for this common postpartum condition.
