AI reads chest x-rays to spot hidden bone loss

NCT ID NCT07421713

First seen Feb 21, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests an artificial intelligence tool called Osteo Signal that looks at chest X-rays to find signs of osteoporosis or low bone mass. Researchers will compare the AI's results to the standard DXA bone density scan in 595 adults aged 50 and older. No new tests or visits are needed—the study uses existing X-rays and DXA scans from hospital records. If accurate, this could help catch osteoporosis earlier without extra radiation or appointments.
