Memory tests before hip surgery may spot delirium risk

NCT ID NCT06869876

First seen Nov 17, 2025 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at 75 older adults having hip replacement surgery to see if simple memory and thinking tests could predict who might become confused after surgery (postoperative delirium). Participants took two short cognitive tests before their operation, and researchers checked for delirium afterward. The goal was to understand if lower test scores are linked to a higher risk of delirium, not to test any treatment.
