Scientists use ultrasound to see inside gums after braces

NCT ID NCT07414264

Summary

This study aimed to see if the thin, permanent wire retainers placed behind teeth after braces cause any changes to the gums or underlying bone. Researchers used a special, painless ultrasound scanner to measure the gums of 53 young adults over six months after they got their retainers. The goal was to gather detailed information to help dentists understand the long-term effects of these common dental appliances.
