Heart stent showdown: real vs fake procedure in chest pain study

NCT ID NCT05142215

First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 05, 2026 · Updated 24 times

Summary

This study looked at 50 people with stable chest pain and a completely blocked heart artery. They were already taking heart medications. Some got a real stent procedure to open the blockage, while others got a pretend procedure. The goal was to see if the stent actually helps reduce chest pain more than the placebo effect. The study was a pilot, meaning it was small and designed to test the approach for a larger future trial.
