Spray tested to ease agony of cancer treatment mouth sores

NCT ID NCT07467759

Summary

This study tested whether adding a benzydamine mouth spray to standard oral care could reduce the severity of painful mouth sores (oral mucositis) caused by high-dose radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. Thirty-five patients were randomly assigned to receive either standard care alone or standard care plus the spray for six weeks. Researchers measured the severity of the sores weekly to see if the spray helped.
