Swallow a pill, dodge the bug: oral vaccine tested against stomach virus

NCT ID NCT05212168

Summary

This study tested whether a single-dose oral tablet vaccine could protect healthy adults from getting sick with norovirus, a common cause of stomach flu. About 165 volunteers received either the vaccine or a placebo pill. About a month later, they were deliberately exposed to the norovirus in a controlled setting to see if the vaccine prevented illness.
