Simple iron pills could make Kids' surgery safer

NCT ID NCT05681871

Summary

This South African study tested whether giving children with low iron levels iron pills for 6-12 weeks before their scheduled surgery could improve their blood health. The goal was to see if this simple, low-cost treatment could raise hemoglobin levels and potentially lead to better recovery after surgery. The trial involved 755 children undergoing various non-heart surgeries.
