New pill tested to tame painful skin lupus rash

Summary
This study is testing whether an oral medication called ICP-488 can safely reduce the severity of skin rashes in people with cutaneous lupus erythematosus (CLE), a form of lupus that affects the skin. About 105 adults with moderate-to-severe skin lupus will be randomly assigned to receive either the real drug or a placebo pill for 16 weeks. Researchers will measure changes in the rash's activity and area, and monitor for any side effects.
