New pill shows promise in preventing painful swelling attacks

Summary

This study tested whether an oral medication called BCX4161 could safely prevent sudden swelling attacks in people with hereditary angioedema (HAE). For 12 weeks, 110 participants took either one of two doses of the pill or a placebo. Researchers measured how many attacks people had and how the treatment affected their daily life and safety.
