First look: how ALS patients process new oral drug
NCT ID NCT04254913
Summary
This small, completed study aimed to understand how the body absorbs and processes an oral liquid version of the drug edaravone in Japanese patients with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) who have a feeding tube (gastrostomy). It involved just 6 participants and focused on measuring drug levels in the blood over time and checking for safety. The goal was to gather basic information to see if this oral form could be a future option for patients who cannot swallow pills.
