Brushing teeth in ICU could save lives from pneumonia
NCT ID NCT06039995
Summary
This study tested whether adding toothbrushing and moisturizing gel to standard mouthwash care could prevent pneumonia in patients on breathing machines in the intensive care unit. Researchers compared two groups of 100 total patients to see if the extra oral care reduced lung infections, shortened ICU stays, or lowered death rates. The goal was to find a simple, cost-effective way to improve outcomes for critically ill patients.
