Apple cider vinegar vs. standard rinses in fight against ICU infections
NCT ID NCT07365956
Summary
This study tested three different oral rinses—apple cider vinegar, a standard antiseptic (chlorhexidine), and baking soda—to see which was best at reducing harmful germs in the mouths of critically ill neurosurgery patients on breathing machines. The goal was to help prevent lung infections that can develop from germs in the mouth. Researchers measured germ levels and mouth health in 90 patients over 5 days to compare the rinses' effects.
