Immune therapy tested before oral cancer surgery

NCT ID NCT03021993

Summary

This study tested whether giving the immunotherapy drug nivolumab before surgery could help shrink tumors in patients with advanced oral cavity cancer. Seventeen patients received the drug prior to their scheduled surgery, and researchers measured how much the tumors shrank and looked at immune system changes. The goal was to see if this pre-surgery treatment approach could improve outcomes for these patients.
