Nighttime mouthpiece trial aims to fight gum disease linked to poor sleep
NCT ID NCT06797089
Summary
This study tested whether a custom dental mouthpiece worn at night could help reduce gum disease in adults who snore and breathe through their mouth. Over 12 weeks, 43 participants with mild to moderate gum disease used the mouthpiece, which also included a shield, while receiving standard dental cleanings. Researchers measured changes in gum health, sleep breathing patterns, and mouth bacteria to see if the device provided added benefit.
