First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looks at whether opioid use disorder and non-fatal overdoses cause changes in a brain protein called tau. Researchers will use a special PET scan to measure tau in three groups: people with opioid use disorder who have had an overdose, those with the disorder but no overdose, and healthy volunteers. The goal is to understand brain health, not to test a treatment.
