First seen Jan 10, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study compares two ways of managing pain during emergency abdominal surgery: one using standard opioid painkillers and another using fewer opioids with added lidocaine. The goal is to see if the opioid-sparing approach leads to better recovery and fewer side effects like nausea, constipation, and breathing problems. The trial will include 120 adults aged 21 to 65 who need emergency surgery with a midline incision.
