New anesthesia approach aims to reduce opioid side effects after emergency surgery

NCT ID NCT07262242

Summary

This study compares two anesthesia approaches for adults having emergency abdominal surgery. Researchers want to see if using fewer opioid pain medications during surgery leads to better recovery with fewer side effects like nausea and breathing problems. They'll measure recovery quality, pain levels, and medication use in 120 patients randomly assigned to either the opioid-sparing or conventional anesthesia method.
