Can teens skip opioids after back surgery? new study tests safer pain relief
NCT ID NCT06935331
First seen Apr 25, 2026 ยท Last updated Apr 25, 2026
Summary
This study looks at two ways to manage pain after scoliosis surgery in teenagers: one using only non-opioid medicines and another using traditional opioids. The goal is to see if the opioid-free approach works just as well while reducing side effects and the risk of opioid dependence. About 58 teens aged 10-20 will take part, and their pain levels will be measured 24 hours after surgery.
