Opioid-Free anesthesia cuts Post-Surgery nausea by half

NCT ID NCT07310524

Summary

This study tested whether avoiding opioids during anesthesia could reduce side effects after abdominal surgery. Researchers compared two methods in 42 patients: one using traditional opioid painkillers and another using a combination of non-opioid medications. They found both methods controlled pain equally well during surgery, but patients receiving opioid-free anesthesia had significantly less nausea and vomiting afterward.
