New anesthesia could cut pain and nausea after weight loss surgery

NCT ID NCT07246447

Summary

This study is testing a new anesthesia method that avoids strong opioid painkillers for obese patients having weight loss surgery. Researchers want to see if using a combination of two other drugs (ketamine and dexmedetomidine) can control pain just as well while reducing common side effects like nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness after surgery. The goal is to help patients recover more comfortably and potentially leave the hospital sooner.
