Scientists probe deadly drug cocktail epidemic
NCT ID NCT03696017
Summary
This research aims to understand why people use opioids and benzodiazepines (like Xanax or Valium) together, a dangerous combination that dramatically increases overdose risk. Researchers will assess up to 120 people in substance use treatment through interviews, questionnaires, and cognitive tests to identify patterns and risk factors. The study collects information only—it does not test any treatments—to help guide future prevention and intervention strategies.
