Can we ditch opioids after wrist surgery? new study tests a safer pain plan
NCT ID NCT05215236
First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 29 times
Summary
This study tested whether using fewer opioids (strong painkillers) after wrist fracture surgery can control pain just as well as the usual opioid-heavy approach. 72 adults who had wrist surgery were randomly assigned to either an opioid-sparing or standard opioid pain plan. The main goal was to compare how much opioid medication each group used and their pain levels.
