Robot vs. scalpel: which hernia surgery is better?
NCT ID NCT05906017
First seen May 16, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026
Summary
This study compared two ways to fix a ventral hernia (a bulge in the belly wall): traditional open surgery and robotic-assisted surgery. Fifty-six adults with midline hernias were randomly assigned to one method. Researchers looked at how long patients stayed in the hospital, pain, cosmetic results, and satisfaction. They also measured stress from surgery using blood tests and checked costs. The goal was to see which approach leads to better recovery and fewer problems.
