One leg at a time: new exercise approach eases breathing for lung disease patients

NCT ID NCT03752892

Summary

This study is testing a new way to help people with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a serious lung scarring disease, exercise more easily. Researchers want to see if pedaling a stationary bike with just one leg at a time helps patients exercise longer and breathe better than the usual two-legged method. The goal is to find an exercise routine that improves endurance and quality of life for the 50 participants who are already in a standard pulmonary rehabilitation program.
