Could your heartburn pill be stealing your protein?
NCT ID NCT07142486
Summary
This small pilot study aims to understand if taking omeprazole, a common medication for heartburn and acid reflux, changes how the body absorbs protein from a meal. Healthy adults aged 50-60 will eat the same meal twice—once with the drug and once without—while researchers measure amino acids in their blood. The goal is to see if people on this medication might need different dietary protein advice to support muscle health as they age.
