Heartburn pill may weaken protein power in older adults
NCT ID NCT07142486
First seen Nov 21, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 25 times
Summary
This small study looks at whether omeprazole, a common heartburn medication, changes how well the body absorbs protein from a meal. Four healthy adults aged 50-60 will eat a protein-rich meal with and without the drug, and researchers will measure amino acid levels in their blood. The goal is to see if the drug might reduce protein availability, which could affect muscle health in older adults.
