Stomach cancer surgery may get simpler: trial tests leaving omentum intact

NCT ID NCT05180864

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study compares two surgical approaches for stomach cancer: removing the entire omentum (a fatty layer in the abdomen) versus preserving it. The omentum helps fight infection and prevent bowel blockages. Researchers want to see if keeping it leads to similar 3-year survival rates with fewer complications. About 654 adults with resectable stomach cancer will take part.
