Kitchen staple tested to soothe painful side effect of cancer therapy

NCT ID NCT07293013

Summary

This study is testing whether rinsing with olive oil can help prevent and ease painful mouth sores and dry mouth caused by radiation and chemotherapy in head and neck cancer patients. About 120 patients will either use the olive oil mouthwash or receive standard care for 12 weeks. Researchers will measure the severity of mouth sores, pain, dryness, and overall comfort to see if the olive oil rinse makes a difference.
