New pain drug tested against morphine for back surgery recovery
NCT ID NCT06990893
First seen Jun 02, 2026 · Last updated Jun 11, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares a newer pain medicine (oliceridine) with two standard ones (morphine and sufentanil) for controlling pain after lower back surgery. About 90 adults having lumbar spine surgery will receive one of the three drugs through a patient-controlled pump. Researchers will measure pain scores, how much extra pain relief is needed, and side effects like nausea or drowsiness. The goal is to find out if oliceridine offers better or safer pain control.
