New eye scan could catch Drug-Related vision loss early
NCT ID NCT07409740
First seen Feb 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study will use a special, non-invasive eye scan called OCTA to look for early signs of damage in the retina of people who have been taking hydroxychloroquine for at least a year. Hydroxychloroquine is a medicine used for autoimmune diseases like lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, but it can sometimes harm the eyes with long-term use. The goal is to see if OCTA can find changes earlier than standard tests, helping doctors monitor patients more closely and prevent vision loss.
