First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 8 times

Summary

This study compares two popular weight-loss surgeries (gastric bypass and sleeve gastrectomy) with two newer weekly injectable medications (semaglutide and tirzepatide) in 125 adults with severe obesity. The goal is to see which treatment leads to the most weight loss after one year. Participants must meet standard criteria for bariatric surgery and have a BMI between 35 and 65.
