First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This pilot study tested whether taking omega-3 fatty acids and essential amino acids before and after knee surgery could help prevent muscle loss. Thirty adults scheduled for ACL reconstruction took either the supplements or a placebo for 4 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. The main goal was to see if such a study is feasible, while also measuring muscle mass and strength changes.
