Can better diet info boost nutrients in donor milk?
NCT ID NCT07042009
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether providing nutritional information and personal milk DHA feedback to breast milk donors can improve the omega-3 content of their milk. Sixty new donors from a UK milk bank will receive educational resources and some will also learn their milk's DHA levels. The goal is to see if these tools help donors make dietary changes that boost key nutrients for preterm babies.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
nutritional information resources and milk DHA level feedback
What this could lead to
If successful, these resources could be adopted by UK milk banks to improve the nutritional quality of donor milk for preterm infants.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (60 participants) testing acceptance and short-term changes, not clinical outcomes. Results may not generalize to all donors or guarantee improved infant health.
