Blood tests may forecast surgery danger for seniors

NCT ID NCT07374055

First seen Jan 28, 2026 · Last updated May 08, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study looks at whether three easy-to-measure scores—nutrition risk, a short nutrition questionnaire, and an immune system index—can predict problems or death after stomach or bowel surgery in people 65 and older. Researchers will follow 200 patients to see which test is best at spotting those at higher risk. The goal is to help doctors better prepare and protect older patients before surgery.
