Scientists test special drink to see how fast elderly stomachs empty

Summary
This study aims to understand how a nutritional drink containing both proteins and carbohydrates affects the speed of stomach emptying in healthy older adults, compared to a drink with only carbohydrates. Researchers will recruit about 25 participants aged 60-90 to drink the formulas on separate days and measure how quickly their stomachs empty using a special imaging scan. The goal is to gather knowledge that could help improve safety guidelines for fasting before surgery in the elderly.
