Can a simple supplement stop muscle wasting after knee surgery?
NCT ID NCT06233825
Summary
This small pilot study explored whether a nutritional supplement could help adults maintain leg muscle after common knee surgery (ACL reconstruction). Thirty participants took either a supplement containing essential amino acids and fish oil or a placebo for four weeks before and two weeks after their surgery. The main goal was to see if it was practical to run such a study, while also checking for early signs that the supplement might help preserve muscle size and strength during recovery when exercise isn't possible.
