Nurse checkups tested to help patients manage chronic back arthritis

NCT ID NCT02374749

Summary

This study tested if a nurse-led program could help people with axial spondyloarthritis (a chronic inflammatory back disease) better manage their condition. Over 500 patients were split into groups to either receive a systematic check for other health problems (comorbidities) or a program to learn self-assessment and self-management skills. The main goal was to see if these approaches improved patients' ability to cope and led to better management of other health issues over one year.
