NCT ID NCT06280482
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 15, 2026 · Updated 27 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests nicotinamide riboside (NR), a form of vitamin B3, in 15 people with smooth muscle dysfunction syndrome (SMDS) — a rare genetic condition that can cause moyamoya-like narrowing of brain arteries. Researchers want to see if NR improves blood flow to the brain, thinking, and daily symptoms, and whether it is safe. Participants take NR daily for a set period and undergo tests like brain scans, cognitive assessments, and blood work.
