Heart surgery scar breakthrough: new dressing may prevent dangerous wound issues
NCT ID NCT06207630
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 26 times
Summary
This study tested whether a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) dressing can prevent chest scar breakdown after heart surgery better than a standard dressing. About 660 adults having planned or semi-urgent heart surgery through a breastbone incision took part. The special dressing uses gentle suction to keep the wound clean and help it heal, aiming to reduce infections and other complications.
