New study tests High-Tech bandage to stop heart surgery scars from opening

Summary
This study tested whether a negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) dressing can prevent the chest scar from reopening after heart surgery, compared to a standard dressing. About 660 adults having planned or semi-urgent heart surgery through a breastbone incision took part. The goal was to see if NPWT reduces wound breakdown and infection in the first month after surgery.
