First seen Apr 02, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study looks at how the intestines develop normally in premature and full-term babies, and what goes wrong in diseases like necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC). Researchers will collect small tissue samples during surgery or scope procedures, plus blood and stool, to study cells, immune system changes, and gut microbes. The goal is to better understand human intestinal health in early life.
