C-section blood pressure drugs: which works best for baby?
NCT ID NCT06508359
First seen May 01, 2026 · Last updated Jun 22, 2026 · Updated 14 times
Summary
This study tested two drugs, norepinephrine and phenylephrine, to prevent or treat low blood pressure from spinal anesthesia during cesarean sections. 700 women having planned C-sections were randomly assigned to get the drug before blood pressure dropped (prophylactic) or only if it dropped (rescue). The main goal was to see how each approach affected the baby's umbilical cord blood pH, a measure of well-being at birth.
