Finding the right dose: safer blood pressure support for elderly surgery patients

NCT ID NCT07077265

Summary

This study tested if a lower dose of a medication called norepinephrine works as well as a higher dose to prevent dangerous drops in blood pressure during hip surgery in people over 65. The surgery uses spinal anesthesia, which can cause low blood pressure. Researchers compared the two doses in 84 patients to see if the lower dose was just as effective at keeping blood pressure stable, which could mean fewer side effects.
