New knee surgery pain plan aims to ditch opioids

NCT ID NCT03974932

Summary

This study tested a planned, non-opioid approach to managing pain after total knee replacement surgery. All 116 participants received an experimental long-acting numbing medicine (HTX-011) as part of a scheduled multi-drug plan. The main goal was to see how well this approach controlled pain and whether it could help patients recover without needing strong opioid painkillers.
