Cycling test may spot artery trouble before it sidelines athletes

NCT ID NCT05229250

First seen Jan 15, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 16 times

Summary

This study looked at whether a non-invasive cycling test can help detect a condition called flow limitation in the iliac artery (FLIA) in endurance athletes. FLIA can cause leg pain and limit performance, and early detection is difficult. Researchers compared muscle oxygen levels and cycling power in athletes with and without FLIA to see if the test could spot the problem early.
