New ultrasound method could map arteries without radiation before surgery

NCT ID NCT07193225

First seen Oct 31, 2025 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 30 times

Summary

This study tests a new 3D ultrasound technique to map the heart and brain arteries in 37 people with clogged neck arteries (carotid atherosclerosis) who are scheduled for surgery. The goal is to see if this non-invasive method can detect artery problems as well as standard CT or MRI scans, potentially reducing the need for radiation and contrast dye. Participants will receive an ultrasound contrast agent and undergo imaging before their planned surgery.
